Job Title: Solutions Designer

We are seeking an experienced Solutions Designer to join our Business Support Team at Yorkshire Water. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in designing and delivering robust and reliable API services within our cloud environment.

About the Role:

The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting the Solution Architects in the design of our API services, ensuring they meet both functional and non-functional requirements. You will also provide 3rd line support and development activities, leveraging your understanding of the API landscape and how it fits into the end-to-end process.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of our microservice-based APIs, guiding developers to follow software development standards and governing adherence to them.
  • Drive change through agile teams and deliver input into triages to address design defects and derive resolutions, providing timely responses that meet our SLA levels.
  • Provide assistance, assurance, and governance for the quality of deliverables produced by the build functions (Application Development and Infrastructure Engineering) for all IT solutions within their business service area.
  • Influence strategic technology decisions through feedback and collaborative working with all relevant Architects.
Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Experience of leading the design, development, and delivery of robust and reliable API services within a cloud environment.
  • MS SQL experience, including writing SQL scripts.
  • Strong writing skills and experience of documenting key technical decisions and processes.
  • Established/proven technical experience gained in a complex and varied environment, with knowledge of software and hosted architectures, architectural roles, domains, methodologies, and design strategies.
  • Commercial management of Technical Partners.
