About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join our dynamic team at a specialist day and residential school for students aged 7-19 with a range of learning difficulties, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), speech, language, and communication needs, and other associated learning challenges.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist teachers with lesson preparation and classroom management
  • Provide one-on-one and small group support for students with special educational needs (SEN)
  • Support students in achieving individual learning goals outlined in their EHCPs (Education, Health, and Care Plans)
  • Encourage positive behaviour, social skills, and emotional wellbeing
  • Assist in maintaining accurate student records and reports
  • Participate in extracurricular activities, trips, and other school events
  • Collaborate with other staff members and contribute to the overall development of the school community
Requirements:
  • Previous experience working in a special education or SEN setting is desirable but not essential
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students and staff
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with young people with additional needs
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Relevant qualifications, such as NVQ Level 2/3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning, are an advantage
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
