We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Oncologist to join our dedicated team at Barking, Havering & Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality care to patients with breast and other tumor subsites, working closely with our well-established and supportive team.

The post holder will be primarily located at Queen's Hospital, Romford, Essex, where the Oncology department is based.

Main Duties

The successful applicant will be expected to:

  • Provide specialist diagnosis, treatment, and care to patients requiring oncology services.
  • Contribute to the Acute Oncology Service.
  • Conduct outpatient clinic reviews and inpatient clinical opinions.
  • Take an active role in research and clinical trials.
  • Support and develop quality improvement projects within the department.
  • Participate in the department's teaching programme and undertake supervision, teaching, and training of medical trainees and other multi-professional staff.
Person Specification
  • Full and Specialist registration with the General Medical Council and a license to practice.
  • Holder of Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or CCT date within six months of interview.
  • Competent in the management of all stages of Oncology to CCST or higher.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of treatment regimens and research developments.
  • Able to take responsibility, show leadership, and make decisions.
  • Experience of teaching and training of undergraduates and junior medical staff.
  • Evidence of achievement appropriate to appointment at consultant level.
  • Involvement in clinical trials.
  • Understanding of the principles of clinical audit.
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills.
