About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Acoustical Higher Scientist to join our Ultrasound and Underwater Acoustics Group at the National Physical Laboratory. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for advancing our research in acoustics and metrology, with a focus on underwater acoustic measurement and calibration.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement new techniques for underwater acoustic measurement and calibration using our state-of-the-art laboratory facilities.
- Design and deliver experimental techniques for acoustic measurement to customers and collaborators.
- Contribute to the delivery of NPL's scientific work, including measurement services and research and development projects.
- Opportunity to contribute to scientific outputs through journal publications and scientific conferences.

About You
- PhD or MSc in Physics, Acoustics, or a related discipline.

- Ability to work towards deadlines in a busy environment and contribute to a team-based approach.
Desirable Skills
- Knowledge of acoustics, marine acoustic technology, and data analysis techniques.
- Experience with software packages such as Matlab and LabView.
- Familiarity with systems engineering and a willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies.
