Hays Construction and Property is a leading construction and civil engineering company operating in the UK and Ireland. We are seeking an experienced Construction Commercial Expert to join our project team in Cambridge.

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading all commercial aspects of the project, providing commercial support and advice to the team to aid decision-making, maintaining commercial information, and ensuring compliance with contractual requirements.

A strong background in construction commercial management, with experience in a similar role, is essential for this position. In addition, a degree qualification and proficiency in JCT & NEC Forms of Contract are required.

Salary: £60,000 - £70,000 per annum

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading the commercial team and supervising and mentoring Quantity Surveyors.
  • Monitoring contract progress against agreed programmes and controlling costs against agreed budgets/end cost forecasts.
  • Preparing and agreeing interim valuations and final accounts, and preparing and agreeing any necessary claims for reimbursements and loss and expense.
  • Liaising with customers and third parties on all commercial matters.
  • Evaluating potential implications for dispute resolution and contributing to the development of quality, health & safety, welfare, and risks in accordance with the company's management systems.
