The Council is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to lead the Building Control Services team. As a key member of the Corporate Leadership Group, you will play a crucial role in shaping the Council's strategic direction and driving continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement a risk-based operational strategy to ensure the Building Control service meets the demands of the Building Safety Regulator and Building Safety Act 2022.
- Provide inspirational leadership to a team of Building Control Surveyors, ensuring the successful implementation and enforcement of Building Regulations and associated legislation.
- Work closely with stakeholders to deliver a high-quality service that meets the needs of customers and partners.
- Commission services and activities to secure the best outcomes for service users and deliver optimum value for money.
- Build strong internal and external working partnerships to enable the service to be delivered in an outcome-focused and efficient way.
- Registration with the Building Safety Regulator (BSR) at Class 3 and Class 4 is essential.
- Chartered Building Surveyor (MRICS) or relevant degree in Building Surveying/Construction is desirable.
- Experience of undertaking change management, planning, and implementing new ways of working in a complex environment is essential.
This is a full-time position, working 36 hours per week. The successful candidate will be based in [location] and will be required to work flexibly to meet the needs of the service.
