Design and Development Engineer

WEG Tech is seeking a highly skilled Design and Development Engineer to join our team in the West Midlands. As a key member of our Design, Development, and Industrialisation Department, you will play a crucial role in developing modern passenger car powertrain systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design, develop, and sign-off components, working closely with client teams to resolve complex issues related to structural, electrical, battery, ICE, or fuel cell components.
  • Support the team in identifying, analysing, and resolving complex issues, and develop FMEA and design verification test plans.
  • Analyse test data and determine design impacts, and collaborate with colleagues to ensure design excellence.
  • Occasional travel to other sites and suppliers in the UK and internationally may be required.
Requirements:
  • Strong background in design principles, CAD, and applied engineering in the automotive industry.
  • Proficiency in at least one CAD package, and understanding of automotive development processes from concept to production.
  • Familiarity with design for manufacturing, material selection, machining techniques, and tolerance design.
  • Ability to interpret CAE and CFD analysis and apply findings to component design.
  • Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics, or Automotive Engineering (2:1).
  • Excellent verbal and written English, and willingness to travel.
  • Motivated, flexible, and committed to excellence, with a full UK Driving License.
