Bariatric Dietitian

NHS Ayrshire and Arran is seeking a highly skilled Bariatric Dietitian to join our team.

This is an exciting opportunity to work with the Bariatric Surgery Team to cover the maternity leave of our current postholder.

You will work closely with the specialist nurse providing a service to this community pre-and post-surgery in the out-patient and in-patient settings with clinics in University Hospital Ayr, Ayrshire Central Hospital and at North West Kilmarnock Health Centre.

You will also deliver a preparatory programme pre-surgery as part of the MDT to groups of people referred for this treatment.

As an effective and senior team member, an additional part of your role will be to supervise/mentor/educate junior colleagues and students during Practice Placements and other members of the multi-professional team.

Key responsibilities:

• Deliver a high-quality service to patients undergoing bariatric surgery
• Work closely with the specialist nurse to provide a comprehensive service to the community
• Deliver a preparatory programme pre-surgery as part of the MDT
• Supervise/mentor/educate junior colleagues and students during Practice Placements

Requirements:

• Honours degree/postgraduate diploma in Nutrition and Dietetics
• Registered Dietitian with the Health Professions Council (HCPC)
• Working knowledge and understanding of the HCPC Standards of proficiency for Dietitians/standards of conduct, performance and ethics
• MSc relevant to specialist field or equivalent
• Dietetic experience of Bariatric surgery and management of a highly complex caseload essential
• Working knowledge of dietary management of people with Tier 4 weight management in all treatment modalities, experience essential

Working hours: Up to 37 per week

Fixed Term/Secondment: Please note this job is a fixed term until October 2025

UK Driving Licence/Car Ownership: UK Car licence/Car ownership is essential to this role.
