Job Title: Biosystems Operator

Job Summary:

Stericycle is a leading provider of compliance-based solutions that protects people and brands, promotes health and well-being, and safeguards the environment. We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Biosystems Operator to join our team at Knostrop Treatment Works.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the smooth day-to-day running of the Biosystems plant, focusing on the receipt, emptying, and cleaning of reusable sharps containers.
  • Prepare these containers for dispatch and reuse, ensuring prompt dispatch and maintaining all equipment safe to prevent damage.
  • Effectively run the Biosystems Wash line and Autoclave Plant in line with company-set KPI targets.
  • Ensure that waste containers, transporters, and roll cages are emptied, cleaned thoroughly, and readily available in a suitable storage area.
  • Control the receipt and dispatch of waste containers, transporters, and roll cages, ensuring all vehicles are loaded/unloaded safely and in line with internal policies and processes.
  • Maintain company operational records and data, including shift reports, BMS data entry, and productive reports.
  • Provide assistance with breakdown/defect repairs and support to Maintenance Engineers, acting immediately to minimize plant availability loss.
  • Perform shift inspections, including work-safe observations and reporting of good catches, and resolve any issues.
  • Review handover from the previous shift, ensure resource distribution plans are in place, complete shift handover reports, and KPI reporting.
  • Maintain a high level of housekeeping and safe working areas during each shift.

Requirements:

  • High school or equivalent education.
  • 0-1 year of experience in a related field.
  • Basic knowledge of waste management and biosystems operations.
  • Certifications in COSHH, IOSH, forklift operation, confined space, environmental permitting, and awareness of emissions monitoring, accident investigation, permit to work, hazard identification, and risk assessment.
