In this role, you will have the opportunity to design and develop technical product solutions across a wide range of products, from concept through to production-ready stages. You will be responsible for managing projects, developing and working to client budgets/timelines, and leading a team of design engineers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop technical product solutions across various medical devices
- Manage projects, develop and work to client budgets/timelines, and lead a team of design engineers
- Collaborate within a multi-disciplinary team to generate innovative designs based on preliminary research and engineering principles
- Diagnose and identify solutions for existing development projects
- Perform detailed design work from concept to production, focusing on components, complex mechanisms, and assemblies for high-volume manufacture
- Utilize 3D CAD modelling (SolidWorks)
- Conduct and review detailed tolerance stack and statistical analyses
- Design proof-of-principle test rigs and assembly jigs
- Develop and review verification protocols and supporting testing
- Create and review design documentation for medical devices
- Manage prototype production and testing to validate principles and production solutions
- Liaise with manufacturers and suppliers to ensure smooth production transitions
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the team
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in Medical Device Design and development
- A 1st or 2:1 degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
- Proven track record of developing design solutions
- Creative problem-solving skills and aptitude for researching and applying various technologies
- Knowledge of plastic manufacturing processes, especially injection moulding
- Strong analytical skills, including engineering calculations
- Proactive, flexible approach with good presentation and communication skills
- Proficiency in CAD, particularly in SolidWorks for solid and surface modelling as well as 2D technical drawing creation
- Experience in management of projects
- Experience in leading a team
Estimated Salary: £55,000-£65,000 per annum
