Role Overview

The Branch Manager is responsible for overseeing the technical rate and capacity determination processes, identifying opportunities for quality submissions, and pricing business at the higher of market or technical rates without compromising long-term client relationships. This role requires extensive travel and demands a strong understanding of client company underwriting philosophies, coverage, and risk hazards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Underwriting: Apply Arch underwriting philosophy to risk analysis approaches for technical rate determination and Arch risk appetite philosophy for capacity determination.
  • Marketing: Execute branch marketing plans, understand individual client company operating goals and structures, develop senior client relationships, and determine and negotiate market prices, terms, and conditions.
  • Management: Attract and retain a superior employee base by providing leadership, performance management, promoting teamwork, and maintaining a conducive office environment.
  • Business Management: Ensure efficient processes, manage expenses appropriately, and enhance Arch UK Regional and personal reputation in the marketplace.
  • Internal/External Relationships: Frequent contact with staff and technical support units to clarify and obtain information.

Requirements & Skills

Skills/Competencies:

Extensive commercial insurance experience from a sales distribution or underwriting background, with exposure to leadership. Proven ability to market to senior individuals in the industry, strong interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to work with management at a senior level.
