The successful candidate will be responsible for promoting, recruiting, training, coordinating, and supporting hundreds of volunteers in the North Sector, which includes Glasgow Royal Infirmary, Lightburn, and Stobhill Hospitals. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the health and wellbeing of patients and staff in NHS Scotland.

The Volunteering Service is managed by the Spiritual Care and Volunteer Service Manager and operates within the Board Nursing, Midwifery, and Allied Health Professional (NMAHP) Directorate. The role is primarily based at the Glasgow Royal Infirmary, with frequent travel across the board area as necessary.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage volunteering across the North Acute Sector of NHS Scotland
  • Attract, inspire, and resource suitable candidates for volunteering positions within NHS Scotland
  • Develop and deliver volunteering initiatives to engage individuals who offer voluntary support to the organisation
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to position volunteers in areas that provide meaningful duties and address any issues in a timely manner
  • Contribute to the development of the Volunteering Service as a whole for NHS Scotland

Requirements:

  • Graduate-level qualification in a relevant discipline
  • Certificate in Volunteer Management (desirable)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to handle and prioritise a diverse workload
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office packages
  • Excellent networking and influencing skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Significant knowledge and experience of working with volunteers, preferably in an NHS environment
