Job Overview

The Senior Patient Systems Officer will be responsible for the overall management of the System Management team within Patient Systems. This role requires close liaison with senior users and supplier account managers to ensure prompt resolution to issues. Collaboration with Project/Programme Managers is essential to ensure a good understanding of all projects relating to clinical systems and the progress and implications on the Patient Systems team.

Main Duties

  • Provide highly complex clinical application support to service users using the most appropriate method of communication.
  • Manage overall work packages for the Systems Management Team.
  • Maintain relationships with senior supplier account managers and have regular service review meetings to track progress and discuss and work to resolve complex matters that have been escalated.
  • Line manage Systems Management team including staff performance and disciplinary issues.
  • Support the Advanced Patient Systems Officer with complex enquiries.

Person Specification

Essential Criteria

  • Knowledge of a range of IM&T areas acquired through qualification to degree or equivalent level or relevant experience.
  • Specialist knowledge acquired through post graduate diploma or equivalent experience.
  • Additional managerial knowledge in an IT customer focused environment.
  • In-depth knowledge and experience of the use of IT in healthcare.

Desirable Criteria

  • PRINCE 2 Foundation qualification in Project Management.

Skills and Abilities

Essential Criteria

  • Communicates complex IM&T and corporate issues to non-IM&T managers; negotiates with external organisations over service issues.
  • Analyses complex problems relating to service issues; makes judgements regarding allocation of resource for Patient Systems work.
  • Plans projects which impact across the department & organisation, delivery of services for own area; contributes to medium term IM&T strategy.
  • Implements IM&T policies and procedures in own area; proposes changes to and redesigns local IM&T policies and procedures, which have an impact in other areas.
  • Dealing with staff and performance issues.

Experience

Essential Criteria

  • Experience of working at a senior level within a customer focused and service environment.
  • Working with staff at all levels across a multidisciplinary team in a variety of environments.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience of System C Careflow products.
  • Experience of managing teams in an IT customer focused environment.
  • Have first-hand experience of the update and maintenance of system security policies for all responsible systems.
