Job Summary:

The Project Engineer is responsible for planning, executing, and closing projects in the airfield engineering asset sector. They define project scope, build comprehensive work plans, and manage projects to budget. The role involves collaborating with other functions to implement new projects aligned with the company's growth expectations.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Communication:
    • Develop and adhere to project plans.
    • Utilize project management software tools effectively.
    • Construct project plans with multiple variables.
    • Communicate professionally with other functions.
    • Attend regular meetings to ensure understanding of targets and objectives.
    • Build and maintain relationships with colleagues and customers.
    • Escalate relevant issues to the Engineering Manager.
  2. Safety:
    • Collaborate with the H&S officer to reduce risks in the area.
    • Ensure a safe working environment and comply with safety controls.
    • Report accidents, near misses, and safety concerns.
  3. Quality:
    • Ensure projects meet customer expectations.
    • Report quality concerns and actively seek improvement.
    • Comply with Company quality standards.
  4. Cost:
    • Ensure compliance with project milestones and targets.
    • Meet project deadlines efficiently.
    • Strive for productivity gains through VA activity and waste removal.
  5. Delivery:
    • Manage allocated budget to support company objectives.
    • Work closely with support functions to deliver objectives.
    • Collaborate with the NPI function to deliver exceptional customer service.
    • Accountable for project plans and progress.
    • Provide accurate project progress updates.
    • Utilize capacity efficiently and effectively.
    • Monitor and execute project plans.
    • Advocate for customers and uphold delivery dates.
    • Keep customers and systems updated on delays and planned dates.
    • Coordinate with leadership and departments to address exceptions.
  6. People:
    • Engage with the 'Switched On' Rewarding and Recognition process.
    • Follow and uphold Company policies and procedures.
    • Engage with team members to optimize workgroup efficiency.
    • Maintain high standards of attendance and punctuality.
    • Engage in learning and development through the PDR Cycle.
    • Share best practices and support learning with team members.
    • Maintain company standards and promote Company values.
    • Participate in CI through SQCDP processes to achieve company standards.
    • Engage team in CI activities, Kaizen, 5S, and problem-solving activities.

Qualifications / Experience:

Appropriate experience in a high-pressure, rapidly changing manufacturing environment is considered more important than paper qualifications. Leadership and objective setting experience is an advantage.

Essential:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent competency levels in Microsoft applications.
  • Demonstrable Project Management experience in Mechanical and/or Electrical Manufacturing.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects of varying complexity levels.

Desirable:

  • Formal Project Management qualification.
  • Product knowledge in Electrical Control Cabinets and/or Electro-mechanical assemblies.
  • Competency in Microsoft SharePoint.
