This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic environment within Water Operations and directly support our operational turnaround plan priorities. Operational Hydraulic modelling is at the core of our strategy of enabling various regulatory requirements and delivering the best customer service, with a defined career path and support towards becoming a technical expert within the water business.

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as the expert in Operational Hydraulic Modelling for the business, and advise other functions within the business, including Asset Management, Capital Delivery, and Clean Water Production, where necessary.
  • Led the Water Quality operational modelling, at various reservoir sites within TW, to ensure the most optimum strategy to transfer water across the hydraulic system is devised while maintaining good reservoir turnovers and mitigating any impact on Customer, Leakage and Energy.
  • Assist with building & maintenance of Hydraulic network models, along with management of any related operational led flow and pressure surveys.
  • Pursue a proactive review of priority model calibration anomalies, assisted by the wider technical teams and field resources – to enable further interrogation, calibration and verification of existing hydraulic models.
  • Carry out supply/demand mass balance assessments to identify key in-year/AMP operational resilience risks and devise any short-term operational mitigation until the longer-term investment takes place.
  • Led a strategic initiative to review any high-risk and low-flow hydrants in the network, to devise operational solutions to ensure the fire flows are improved.
  • Devise water supply solutions to remove Low Pressure and Supply Interruption risks within the year, in addition to solutions for emergency Operational Incidents, where appropriate.
Requirements
  • Demonstratable experience in the use of hydraulic models, preferably with previous experience in the use of network modelling software like Infowater and Infoworks.
  • Thames Water teams are currently in the process of transitioning to using Infoworks.
  • Have excellent IT skills, and strong numeric and data analytical skills to generate accurate and detailed plans.
  • Comprehensive and strong ability to review and interpret complex data, conclude, make recommendations and informed decisions on a range of projects on strategic programmes.
  • Ability to travel across our operational area, when required, for onsite investigations or office meetings. This role comes with the flexibility of hybrid working; with the base office located in Hampton, Greater London.
