About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Commercial Underwriter to join our team at Superscript.

As a key member of our underwriting team, you will be responsible for evaluating and analysing insurance applications from SMEs, ensuring that they meet our risk appetite and profitability targets.

You will work closely with brokers and other stakeholders to develop customised insurance solutions that meet the needs of our SME clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate and analyse insurance applications from SMEs to determine the risk level and appropriate premium pricing.
  • Underwrite new and renewal SME commercial insurance policies in line with company guidelines, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and internal standards.
  • Approve or decline insurance applications based on risk assessment, underwriting guidelines, and company policy.

Requirements:

  • 3-5 years experience in commercial underwriting, preferably within the UK SME market.
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills, with the ability to assess risk and make informed decisions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex underwriting decisions clearly and effectively.
