About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Network Performance Engineer to join our team at Iberdrola Energie Deutschland GmbH. As a key member of our Transmission Network team, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our transmission network.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Analyzing Network Operability Risks: Conduct in-depth analysis of existing and emerging network operability and stability risks, including risks posed by new technologies and wider changes in the electricity network.
  2. Developing Solutions: Identify, design, develop, and implement solutions to manage and minimize operational/operability risks or network performance problems.
  3. Process Development: Develop, implement, and maintain processes, policies, and standards to manage network operability risks.
  4. Performance Monitoring: Monitor the performance of the network to identify and manage emerging risks/issues.
  5. Project Support: Assist with the successful connection and integration of equipment that may pose a wider operability risk, such as HVDC links, static and dynamic reactive compensation equipment.
  6. Collaboration: Work with other teams in Transmission and Engineering Design on operability and interaction issues.
  7. Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with academic institutions, industry bodies/forums, Ofgem, the ESO, other TOs, and stakeholders to understand and minimize network risks.
Requirements
  1. Education: A degree in Electrical Engineering with a higher degree in a relevant subject area and/or relevant industrial design experience.
  2. Experience: Experience in power systems, power system analysis, and design.
  3. Technical Knowledge: A good understanding of the response of power systems to disturbances and interaction mechanisms such as SSTI, control system interactions, or other resonant conditions.
  4. Project Experience: Experience in the design, development, or delivery of transmission network projects.
  5. Regulatory Knowledge: Working knowledge of the GB SQSS, Grid Code, and STC.
  6. Communication Skills: Good communication skills with the ability to write clear reports and present complex technical matters to a non-technical audience.
  7. Professional Membership: Chartered membership of the IET or working towards this.
  8. Regulatory Environment: Knowledge of the regulatory environment.
