About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join our commercial department at Galliard Homes. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for supporting the commercial activities on site and working closely with the design and construction teams to monitor build costs and programme progress.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist Quantity Surveyors at Project and Senior level with day-to-day activities
  • Review, analyze, and monitor procurement and construction budgets for the construction team and specialist subcontractors
  • Monitor overall construction costs and site progress against reported programme and report any cost implications on a monthly basis
  • Attend meetings with the site team and subcontractors as necessary
  • Assist with producing monthly valuations in liaison with the Project/Senior Surveyor regarding progress on site against the contract sum analysis
  • Assist with variations and instructions
  • Assist with budget control throughout development
  • Assist the Project/Senior quantity surveyor with taking off quantities from drawings for procurement and pricing variations
  • Assist with costing and invoicing for client variations as well as tracking client extras spreadsheet
  • Assist with the preparation of monthly progress valuations
  • Assist with main contract and subcontract preparation reviews
  • Attend design team meetings and strive to assist with value engineering opportunities
  • Execute payments to subcontractors in line with contractual requirements
Requirements

  • Professional honesty and integrity in dealing with colleagues, suppliers, and customers
  • Previous experience working for an established property developer, main contractor, or subcontractor in the capacity of Assistant Quantity Surveyor or similar
Desirable Qualifications
  • HNC or Degree qualified
  • Knowledge of tendering and procurement
  • Some knowledge of contract administration and the different forms of contract
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications and payment software systems
