Net-Zero Geosystems is a pioneering start-up dedicated to the development of cutting-edge geoscientific simulation tools and services. Our mission is to provide robust, evidence-based solutions for CO2 storage, geothermal energy, radioactive waste disposal, subsurface energy storage, and the permanent abandonment of oil & gas wells.

Our Technology

Our principal technology predicts the probability of subsurface well integrity loss and leakages, ensuring sustained long-term containment of greenhouse gases and harmful fluids. This is crucial for all energy geosystems, and our technology will dramatically improve well longevity and resilience, reduce risk, and drive costs down.

The Role

The Lead Computational Geoscientist will drive the delivery of our R&D and applied projects, developing innovative software, undertaking scientific research, and applying our technology for client operations. Research and development will focus on technical and user-oriented features, physics models, and their implementation in our semi-analytical and numerical software.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the delivery of work packages, write deliverable descriptions, monitor progress, and ensure deadlines are met.
  • Develop new software, physics models, theory documents, experimental, and applied studies.
  • Present research outcomes, project milestones, and development progress to the team, external stakeholders, and the industrial and scientific community.
  • Travel to meet with the team and clients, present at conferences.

About You

The ideal candidate is an excellent team player with extensive experience in developing numerical methods and physics solvers, advanced Python/C++ skills, strong mathematics skills, knowledge of solid & fluid mechanics theory, and a background in Geosciences. We are looking for someone with empathy, scientific rigour, attention to detail, creative thinking, a track record of delivering and meeting deadlines, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and proficiency in Python/C++, Paraview, Linux, LaTeX, and Git.

What We Offer

  • A yearly salary between £45,000 and £55,000.
