Engineering and Maintenance Manager – Power Station

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Engineering and Maintenance Manager to join our team at a 25MW energy from waste power station in South London. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and coordinating the maintenance function, ensuring maximum plant availability with minimal downtime.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Team Management: Manage and direct a team of multi-skilled technicians to ensure minimum plant downtime and maximum availability.
  2. Plant Shutdowns: Plan and execute plant shutdowns/outages to ensure efficient maintenance and minimize downtime.
  3. Maintenance Budget: Manage the department's maintenance budget to ensure effective resource allocation.
  4. Maintenance Schedule: Oversee the management of the maintenance schedule to ensure timely completion of tasks.
  5. Record Keeping: Develop and maintain records of plant maintenance, including work orders, PPMs, and planned and unplanned outages and inspections.
  6. Contractor Management: Oversee on-site contractors to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
  7. Deputy Plant Manager: Deputise for the Plant Manager when required.

Requirements:

  1. Qualifications: A minimum of a HNC in a relevant engineering discipline, ideally mechanical.
  2. Experience: At least 5 years of experience in maintenance/engineering in a relevant heavy process industry, ideally power, but industries such as chemical production, aggregate, or similar. Royal Navy Marine Engineers at Chief PO level will also be considered.
  3. Skills: A solid practical understanding of boilers, steam, pressure parts, and associated equipment. Ideally experience with managing a team/department budget.
  4. Leadership: Experience in a management or supervisory level role.
  5. Certifications: An IOSH or NEBOSH would be beneficial but isn't essential.
