About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Systems Design Engineer to join our team at Link Talent. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a background in LV and HV system design in automotive applications.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with our Head of Whole Vehicle and Head of T+D to refine LV and HV architecture according to the latest legislative, functional safety, cost, and performance standards.
  • Control design and specification of low voltage wiring harnesses.
  • Guide mechanical design engineers on best practices for routing and securing of harnesses.
  • Act as the primary point of contact with external suppliers for prototype wire harness manufacturing.
  • Perform all calculations and specifications for LV and HV component sizing, including wiring, fuses, relays, IVTs, etc.
  • Create and maintain schematics in Arcadia and Visio and control the release of updates.
  • Write end-of-line pass/fail requirements and sign-off procedures.
  • Support control systems teams in software development, testing, analysis, and evaluation.
  • Support test & development teams to address any wiring issues.
  • Use robust management techniques to keep the engineering team aligned with company priorities and timelines.
  • Sign off on all engineering designs and drawings, and get sign-off from Head of Whole Vehicle for safety-critical items.
  • Support for vehicle's engineering bill of materials, parts cost, and parts risk assessment.
  • Manage, prioritise and delegate engineering-related corrective actions.
  • Work with programme management and engineering lead to move designs through milestones & gateways in a timely fashion.
  • Develop a strong relationship with the team and maintain a positive attitude as a professional role model.
  • Help manage recruitment efforts through interviewing potential employees, arranging interviews, and offers.

Requirements:

  • Demonstrable expertise in LV and HV system design in automotive applications.
  • Demonstrable ability to perform root cause analysis efficiently.
  • Fluent in Visio and Arcadia or similar industry-standard software.
  • Strong understanding of LV and HV component design & construction (wires, connectors, insulation, shielding, etc).
  • Experience with automotive standards and communication protocols.
  • High standards for documentation and organisation.
  • Understanding of first principles and ability to justify designs with hand calculations at a minimum.
  • Discipline with release procedures, drawing and parts tracking.
