Career Opportunities in Water Environment Management

At Scottish Water, we're committed to safeguarding the environment while supporting Scotland's industries. Our Trade Effluent team plays a crucial role in managing industrial wastewater, ensuring it's safely discharged into the public network without harming the environment. As part of our 2-year Specialist Graduate Programme, you'll gain hands-on experience in water environment management, developing skills in analysis, asset management, and business strategy.

This role offers a unique opportunity to work with a dynamic team, tackling real-world challenges and making a meaningful impact on Scotland's water environment. You'll be responsible for monitoring and controlling industrial effluent discharges, investigating and resolving non-compliance, and becoming an expert in our commercial agreements. If you're passionate about the science behind wastewater management, this is your chance to become a specialist in this vital part of our business.

The programme includes dedicated training to become a fully qualified Service Planner, with role rotations every six months to gain valuable experience across various teams. Your starting salary will be £29,000, with opportunities for salary increases as you progress through the programme and reach key milestones. Upon completing the programme, you'll have the opportunity to advance into a Service Planner or Data Scientist role, starting from £33,560.

You'll need to live within commuting distance of one of our main office hubs, e.g., Edinburgh, Glasgow, or Aberdeen. We're looking for someone who's curious about analysis, asset management, business strategy, and data science, with a passion for building connections and working with different people. A full UK-issued driving license is required.
