The Science Resource Facilitator will be responsible for the provision of practical resources and facilities, including the guidance and support for the science curriculum. The successful candidate will be committed to promoting Science across the school, and to working with a range of external partners.

Responsibilities
  1. Support the Lead Science Technician in stock inventory management and maintaining appropriate records.
  2. Keep financial records of departmental expenditure in accordance with the Academy's policy.
  3. Ensure the availability of suitable materials and equipment and suggest alternatives for suitability, practicality, and economy.
  4. Prepare and deliver practicals for science classes on schedule.
  5. Maintain laboratory equipment and keep them in optimal condition.
  6. Design, construct, and modify apparatus.
  7. Set up and care for plant and animal collections.
  8. Prepare standard solutions, purify chemicals, and treat waste.
Premises, Health and Safety Management
  1. Support the Lead Science Technician in promoting and observing a safe working environment for the technical support service.
  2. Keep up-to-date with current procedures and practices through continuing professional development.
  3. Provide technical advice on Health & Safety issues to teachers and technical support staff.
  4. Ensure the safe treatment and disposal of used materials, including hazardous substances, and respond to actual or potential hazards.
  5. Ensure the safe storage and accessibility of equipment and materials.
  6. Undertake routine and non-routine checking, cleaning, maintenance, calibration, testing, and repairing of equipment to the required standard within the science department.
  7. Provide Health & Safety advice to staff, teachers, and students within your subject area.
  8. Dispose of waste materials.
  9. Check fume cupboards, pressure vessels, and first-aid kits; carry out checks.
  10. Organise, store, and check the condition of chemicals and equipment.
  11. Attend department meetings and be an active team player.
Other

Carry out duties and responsibilities commensurate with the post necessary for the smooth running of the school as required by the Lead Science Technician, Head of Science, or the Head of Learning Area.
