About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Technician Trainer to join our Engineering team at Protocol National Limited. The successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day running of workshops, ensuring that tools and materials are readily available for all learners.

This is a hands-on role, supervising and coaching students while assisting tutors. The ideal candidate will have a strong sense of responsibility and the ability to act as a role model.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist lecturing staff in providing and undertaking practical and vocational learning activities for learners.
  • Deliver underpinning knowledge to students through training sessions.
  • Make assessments of student competence against pre-determined criteria.
  • Train on a range of accredited programmes to deliver practical learning aims of students.
  • Supervise students undertaking practical work, visits, examinations, and other assessments.
  • Provide training and coaching in appropriate disciplines to learners.
  • Supervise the activities of learners to ensure Health and Safety regulations are adhered to.
  • Check, maintain, and repair equipment as needed.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and well-organized environment in the workshop.
  • Assist in the operation and maintenance of files, both manual and computerized.
  • Maintain stock levels and provide accurate and current inventories of tools, equipment, and materials.
  • Attend meetings as required by the Line Manager.
  • Participate in risk assessments of practical activities.
  • Ensure the clearing away, cleaning, and safe storing of equipment and materials after use.
  • Support staff and students in the use of specialist equipment.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Health & Safety Regulations.
  • Undertake First Aid duties as needed.

About You

You will have experience within the engineering industry, a proven track record of organizing and maintaining storerooms, and experience using relevant equipment and materials.

  • You will hold a Level 2 qualification in any engineering discipline or similar, a minimum of Level 2 in literacy and Numeracy.
  • Health and Safety or technical training qualifications would be advantageous, but full training will be provided.
  • You will have excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • The ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
