About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Learning Disability Nurse to join our Intensive Support Team in Barnsley. As a key member of our team, you will work closely with service users, their carers, and the wider multidisciplinary team to assess and support individuals with learning disabilities and mental health needs.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in learning disabilities and mental health, with experience in providing specialist assessment, support, and treatment. You will be responsible for promoting a positive behavioral approach and working collaboratively with the service user, their carers, and the multidisciplinary team to achieve the best possible outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide specialist assessment, support, and treatment to individuals with learning disabilities and mental health needs.
  • Work collaboratively with the service user, their carers, and the multidisciplinary team to achieve the best possible outcomes.
  • Promote a positive behavioral approach and provide training and support to staff as needed.
  • Participate in staff training and supervision, and contribute to the development of the team.
Person Specification
  • Substantial post-registration experience working in learning disabilities.
  • Supervision of staff and students.
  • Experience of a range of mental health and learning disabilities settings.
Qualifications
  • RNLD or BSc/BA, MA Occupational Therapy.
  • Additional postgraduate qualification in positive behavior support at Diploma/Degree level.
  • HCPC State Registration/NMC registration.
Training
  • Practice Education/Practice Assessor Preparation Certificate (or to achieve within 12 months).
  • Clinical supervisors training (or willingness to complete).
  • To be willing to undertake postgraduate training to further skills, knowledge, and expertise relevant to clinical area.
