Job Title: Principal Systems Engineer

Alstom is seeking a highly skilled Principal Systems Engineer to join our team in Hatfield. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for the development, adaptation, and introduction of SSI and SMARTLOCK systems and processes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Participate in the development and delivery of standardized objectives and optimum systems solutions on allocated projects.
  • Ensure conformity of projects to systems standards, agreed system architecture, client standards, and company procedures.
  • Support the development of new systems solutions and participate in the development of Generic and Specific Application Safety Cases.
  • Provide technical input to tenders and participate in systems integration, project deliverables, and associated sub-systems.
  • Lead technical teams and provide second-line product support to customers.
Requirements:
  • MSc or BSc level education in an engineering-related subject, preferably control systems/electrical engineering/systems engineering or equivalent.
  • Good knowledge of client and systems standards and legislation, including the UK railway safety approval processes.
  • Knowledge of systems engineering principles and good understanding of relevant systems and software tools.
Desirable Skills:
  • Commercial and financial awareness.
  • Virtualisation and Cloud Technologies.
