Lead Animator

At PlayStation Global, we're seeking a highly skilled Lead Animator to join our team. As a key member of our animation team, you'll be responsible for guiding the creation of high-quality gameplay animation assets and systems.

About the Role

We're looking for an experienced animator with a passion for video games and a strong understanding of current trends in animation. You'll work closely with our Art Directors and Art Leads to shape and uphold the project direction and vision.

Key Responsibilities
  • Guide the creation of high-quality gameplay animation assets and systems
  • Work with the Art Directors and Art Leads to shape and uphold the project direction and vision
  • Deliver the vision for features and animation systems, empowering feature owners and members of the animation team to do so
  • Work with related teams on block-out to final animations and systems, ensuring seamless integration with non-gameplay animation where required
Requirements
  • Strong knowledge of animation principles and an eye for dynamic poses, strong in keyframe animation and motion capture methods
  • Experience in developing animation for game engines and movement systems, working with motion capture data and relevant pipelines, and working with Unreal Engine or similar
  • Experience with Motion Matching and State Machines development, as well as shooting and directing motion capture for gameplay animation
  • Passion for video games and an understanding of current trends in relation to animation
  • Experience mentoring and growing an animation department, with a strong understanding of facial animation
