Project Accountant Job Description

An award-winning manufacturing business is seeking a highly skilled Project Accountant to join their team. As a key member of the finance team, you will be responsible for managing and controlling costs and budgets for individual projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Management and control over costs, expenses, and cash flow of individual projects
  • Preparation of monthly management accounts, including detailed analysis of margins by project
  • Monthly and annual reporting of project finances across individual lifespans to key stakeholders
  • Ensuring robust internal procedures and controls are in place to maintain reliable and accurate cost and inventory data
  • Month-end reconciliations and general ledger entries
  • Liaising with auditors as required and assistance in the preparation of the annual financial statements
  • Management of corporate tax (UK and USA)
  • Regular tax filings such as the quarterly VAT return and P11d preparation
  • Foreign currency dealing, administration, and accounting

Requirements:

  • Qualified: ACCA/CIMA or equivalent (at least 3 years post-qualification experience)
  • Manufacturing industry experience: Familiarity with costing concepts and Bill of Material structures
  • Project Accounting experience
  • Project Management: Experience as a project manager or working closely with project managers
  • Strong IT skills with excellent knowledge of Excel
  • Self-motivated with an inquiring mind and desire for excellence
