Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated personal care assistant to become an integral part of our client's support team, providing essential assistance within their home environment. As a legal employer on behalf of the client, you will focus solely on their needs, ensuring a consistent and personalized approach to care. This role offers permanent contracts with a 6-month probationary period, requiring 30-40 hours of commitment per week, primarily during daytime hours, including some weekends.

Client Profile and Support Objectives:
The client is a 32-year-old gentleman who has experienced a brain injury resulting in multi-sensory impairment (MSI). Your role will be pivotal in fostering a supportive atmosphere that promotes his independence, enabling him to access information, communicate effectively, and navigate his surroundings safely.

Your assistance will facilitate effective communication and ensure the client can engage in learning, vocational, and social activities, thereby enhancing his community involvement and social interactions.

Collaboration with the client’s family and other professionals is essential, as you will implement a daily exercise regimen aligned with his physiotherapy goals. The objective is to bolster the client’s confidence, nurture friendships, and fill his days with enriching experiences.

You will encourage the client to participate in self-care tasks, including meal preparation and routine household activities such as cleaning and laundry. The essence of this role is to be a reliable, compassionate, and engaging support worker, ensuring that effective communication remains central to your interactions.

You will receive training compliant with CQC standards tailored to meet the client’s specific needs. Previous care experience is valued but not mandatory unless otherwise indicated.

Essential Qualifications for This Role:
  • An enhanced DBS disclosure is necessary for this position (cost covered by HomeCareDirect).
  • A solid understanding of the complexities associated with multi-sensory impairment is crucial.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and listening, are required.
  • Proficiency in IT is essential.
  • A valid UK driving license is mandatory.
  • A commitment to long-term, person-centered care for one client is expected.
  • Willingness to undergo training to meet CQC standards.
  • Adherence to company policies and procedures is essential.
  • Attributes such as reliability, compassion, and a non-judgmental attitude are important.
  • Commitment to confidentiality and respect for the client’s dignity is required.
