Job Opportunity: CAD/CAM Designer

The CAD/CAM Designer will be responsible for reviewing customer-supplied data and drawings, performing design rule checks, and creating manufacturing data, programs, and tools required for the production of furniture items.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Import customer data into various CAM systems.
  • Perform design rule checks and edit data to comply with manufacturing guidelines.
  • Create array configurations, route, and test programs, penalization, and output data for production use.
  • Collaborate with process management to evaluate and provide strategy for advanced processing as needed.
  • Itemize and correspond to design issues with account management.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Organizational Relationship:

The CAD/CAM Designer will report to the Production and Machine Shop Management and coordinate activities with all departments, especially manufacturing.

Requirements:

  • A university degree or 5 years' experience would be ideal.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work well with people are essential.
  • Furniture construction manufacturing knowledge.
  • Experience using CAD/CAM tooling software.

Physical Demands:

The ability to communicate orally with management and other coworkers is crucial. Regular use of the telephone and email for communication is essential. Sitting for extended periods is common. Hearing and vision within normal ranges are helpful for normal conversations, to receive ordinary information, and to prepare documents.
