Deputy Financial Controller Opportunity

Project People is seeking a highly skilled Deputy Financial Controller to join our team on a contract basis. This role will entail a wide range of responsibilities across financial accounting, reporting, and tax compliance.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure the accuracy and completeness of the balance sheet, including all balance sheet reconciliations and approvals.
  • Prepare and report financial results to shareholders, including intercompany reconciliations.
  • Lead finance improvement initiatives and spearhead projects to optimize financial systems and processes.
  • Maintain and review balance sheet risk and opportunity schedules.
  • Provide detailed monthly commentary on balance sheet movements and lead review meetings on monthly financial results.
  • Prepare and file statutory accounts and manage the audit process for internal and shareholder audits.
  • Review and maintain accounting policy documents, ensuring compliance with IFRS 16.
  • Work on corporation tax returns in collaboration with external advisors and ensure compliance with VAT, corporation tax, and employee-related taxes.
  • Manage financial controls and group consolidations, and oversee the work of a Finance Analyst.
Requirements:
  • Must be a qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA).
  • Experience leading financial reporting processes, including preparing trial balances and reporting results for management review.
  • Statutory accounts preparation and familiarity with IFRS.
  • Ability to provide technical accounting papers and guidance.
  • Experience with corporation tax return preparation and audit management.
  • Experience in managing financial controls and group consolidations.
  • Familiarity with finance systems such as Agresso is desired.
