Homeless Support Worker

As a Homeless Support Worker, you will be working with adults who have offending backgrounds, providing housing-related support to help them address issues connected with previous offending behaviors, develop life skills, and live independently.
Main Responsibilities:
- Manage a caseload of clients, working with them on a one-to-one basis to identify their needs and develop a client needs assessment.
- Carry out housing management duties, including collecting service charges at various locations.
- Cover Health and Safety duties at various locations.
- Support clients in moving on from accommodation services to suitable options.
- Mediate and negotiate with existing housing providers to prevent homelessness.
- Provide advice on housing, welfare benefits, rent deposits, and household goods via various schemes.
- Help clients with the practicalities of moving to new accommodation, such as contacting energy suppliers.
- Encourage individuals to develop practical skills, such as budgeting, shopping, cooking, housework, laundry, and personal health and hygiene.
- Carry out drop-in sessions at designated locations.
- Liaise with colleges, training agencies, and employers to help clients gain access to education, find work, or maintain their benefit entitlement.
- Advise clients on appropriate agencies to contact for debt and housing issues.
- Travel and cover services across a geographical patch as required.
Requirements:
- Clear verbal and written English.
- Good IT and keyboard skills.
- Polite, assertive manner, and ability to self-motivate.
- Passion for working in a client/customer-facing role.
- Knowledge of the benefits system and tenancy legislation.
- Interest and genuine concern for homelessness and related issues.
- Knowledge of voluntary and statutory agencies.
- Flexible approach to the role.
- Full driver's license and access to a vehicle.
