We are seeking a seasoned Senior Commercial Contract Manager to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in managing contract risk and opportunity management across the business.

The role will be accountable for risk and opportunity management for the life cycle of all the businesses contracts from bidding to close. These include contracts for one-off construction projects, including decarbonisation opportunities, and high-value & long-term maintenance services.

Main Responsibilities:

  • To own the Risk & Opportunity Management process for all contracts across the business, being accountable for identifying and understanding contract risks and opportunities;
  • Pre-Contract: identifying the need for specific commercial resource to administer contracts, and periodic or specific commercial intervention throughout the contract period;
  • Contract Mobilisation: creating a contract commercial strategy, formulating a contract administration plan, and briefing teams on commercially operating the contract;
  • Operational Phase: monitoring performance, carrying out agreed commercial interventions, supporting contract commercial resource, and agreeing final accounts;
  • Contract Close: agreeing final accounts and records policy;
  • To lead the commercial and quantity surveying teams to fulfill commercial strategies, maximise contract profitability, and mitigate risk;
  • To contribute to financial success by being core to the risk and opportunity management process;
  • To coordinate expertise from legal, operational, technical, financial, business development, and HR colleagues.

Requirements:

  1. BSc in relevant quantity surveying or commercial management discipline (essential);
  2. MSc in relevant quantity surveying, commercial management, or legal discipline (desirable);
  3. Legal & Contractual Awareness: expert understanding of legal and contractual principles with ability to relate them to operational circumstances and maximise benefit;
  4. Risk & Opportunity Management: expert knowledge of contractual risks and opportunities, able to manage identification, measurement, management, and mitigation, engaging stakeholders and planning key commercial interventions;
  5. Contract Pricing: sound understanding of pricing mechanics and pricing strategies;
  6. Scope Definition: expert understanding of scoping and identification of risk in scope of works.

Estimated Salary: £60,000 - £80,000 per annum.
