About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Learning Support Assistant to join our team at a co-education secondary school provision for children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide individualized support to students with complex needs, promoting their social, emotional, and academic development.
  • Assist in lessons and activities, adapting to the diverse needs of students and facilitating their participation in the curriculum.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with students, staff, and parents, ensuring a safe and supportive learning environment.
  • Collaborate with the teaching team to identify and implement strategies to meet the needs of students with SEMH needs.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of individualized education plans (IEPs) and behavior support plans.
Requirements
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • DBS clearance on the update service or willingness to obtain one.
  • Adaptability and a commitment to meeting the diverse needs of students.
  • Good knowledge of EHCPs and their application in a SEMH setting.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team, supporting the teaching staff in delivering high-quality education.
  • Understanding of the importance of safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
