Chester-le-Street CE Primary School is currently seeking a dedicated individual to join its governing body. As a co-opted governor, you will play a crucial role in shaping the school's vision and ensuring its continued success.

Role Overview

The governing body is responsible for setting the school's strategic direction, overseeing its financial performance, and holding the headteacher to account for educational standards. You will work closely with the existing governors to make informed decisions that benefit the school and its pupils.

We are looking for someone who can commit to approximately four full governing body meetings per year, typically held on Monday evenings from 4pm to 6pm. Additional time will be required for committee meetings and site visits. Full training is provided to ensure your success in this role.

Key Responsibilities
  • To contribute to the development of the school's strategic plan and ensure its effective implementation.
  • To scrutinize the school's budget and expenditure, ensuring value for money and effective resource allocation.
  • To hold the headteacher to account for educational standards and pupil outcomes.
