RRPS Coaching Position

Essential Responsibilities:

Develop and lead a competitive girls wrestling team while fostering character and life skills in student-athletes.

  • Verify that each prospective athlete has completed and submitted the Rio Rancho Public Schools Interscholastic Athletic Participation Form, physical, and proof of insurance before participating in the program.
  • Explain and discuss the RRPS Athletic Code of Conduct with team members and maintain a file with signed agreements.
  • Prepare and submit reports to the athletic office, including:
  • A list of lettermen at the end of the season.
  • A complete inventory of equipment at the end of the season.
  • All requests for new equipment for the next year by the deadline.
  • Evaluations of assistant coaches at the end of the season.
  • A list of athletes excused from school on road trips, distributed to faculty and staff.
  • Confirm road trip details with the athletic coordinator and ensure equipment is properly stored.
  • Provide a safe environment for valuables during practice and games.
  • Expect athletes to conduct themselves with dignity and respect at all times.
  • Ensure athletes are aware of athletic eligibility rules and regulations.
  • Limit time spent out of school and adhere to NMAA game/contest limits.
  • Supervise assistant coaches and teams within the program.
  • Stay informed about rules and regulations in wrestling.
  • Conduct oneself in a manner that reflects positively on the team, school, and community.
  • Encourage athletes to participate in multiple sports.
  • Develop criteria for earning a letter in wrestling.
  • Host a mandatory parent preseason meeting to review expectations and team rules.
