Backend Systems Architect - AAA Game Development

We are looking for a talented Backend Systems Architect to join our team at DPS Games. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for designing and implementing scalable and robust backend systems that support our new free-to-play game in Unreal Engine.

The ideal candidate will have experience with real-time communication protocols (WebSockets, gRPC, etc.) and message queues (Kafka, RabbitMQ, etc.), as well as expertise in test-driven development with a high level of quality.

You will work closely with game developers, DevOps engineers, and producers to ensure seamless integration and high-quality results.

In this role, you will also contribute to the design and implementation of game backend architectures, including state management, real-time player interactions, and high load systems that support matchmaking, leaderboards, and in-game economies.

We offer a competitive salary range of $120,000-$150,000 per year, depending on experience, as well as hybrid work options, including 3 days of work from the office.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement scalable and robust backend systems that support our game
  • Contribute to the design and implementation of game backend architectures
  • Work together with game developers, DevOps engineers, and producers
