Earn a competitive salary of approximately £30,500 per annum as an experienced Roads Enforcement Officer at Essential Employment.

The ideal candidate will hold a strong understanding of Network Management, New Roads and Street Works Act 1991, Traffic Management Act 2004, Highways Act 1980, Permit Scheme Regulations 2008, London Permit Scheme, and have experience in highway inspection and/or maintenance.

Key responsibilities include enforcing compliance with relevant acts and regulations, carrying out site visits, and managing repairs necessary to maintain the Public Highway.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Conduct site visits to inspect highways and ensure compliance with NRSWA, LoPS, and TMA.
  2. Risk assess all defects found and prioritize for repair, highlighting any CDM issues.
  3. Identify, register, and issue records of repairs necessary to maintain the Public Highway.
  4. Enforce compliance with NRSWA, LoPS, and TMA, including issuing Fixed Penalty Notices related to the London Permit Scheme.
  5. Ensure Section 74 Charge compliance, Section 72 reinstatement defect compliance, and Section 50 planning & compliance to maximize conformity under the Acts.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • New Roads and Street Works Act 1991 supervisor's qualification (City & Guilds Units 1 to 16).
  • Expert knowledge of Traffic Management Act 2004, New Roads & Street Works Act 1991 & LoPS.
  • Experience in highway inspection and/or maintenance.
