Job Title: Early Years Kitchen Assistant
We are seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Kitchen Assistant to join our team at Bright Horizons Chineham Park Day Nursery and Preschool. The ideal candidate will have previous experience working in a kitchen environment and a passion for nutrition and healthy eating.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain a clean and safe kitchen environment, adhering to internal and external requirements.
- Support the Chef in the preparation and cooking of age-appropriate food for all children, with minimal food wastage.
- In the absence of the Chef, take responsibility for the running of the kitchen and ensure all dietary requirements are catered for and clearly communicated to the teams.
- Promote and ensure child welfare, protection, health and safety, and safeguarding.
- Support the Chef to ensure budgetary requirements are met and stock levels are suitably managed and recorded.
- Work with colleagues to maintain a positive, happy, and safe environment.
Requirements:
- Previous experience in a kitchen role within a domestic or commercial property.
- Possession of Food Safety CIEH L2 or above (or equivalent).
- Sound knowledge of COSHH and ability to manage different dietary requirements, particularly food allergies.
- Great communication skills, both with colleagues, children, and parents.
- Ability to work under pressure.
