Job Description

My client, a dynamic Technology Solutions Provider, are looking to recruit an Applications Engineer with a strong interest and passion in pursuing a career within the Automotive and Motorsport sectors.

This is a great opportunity to work for one of the most dynamic Smart-Tech Companies in the UK, with an extensive background of supplying products into the Global Automotive and Motorsport Sectors and a portfolio of Blue-Chip Clients, including some of the world's most prestigious Automotive and Motorsport businesses.

The successful candidate will be involved in the complete life cycle of a product, from conception, specification, user acceptance testing and pre/post-sales support. This role requires strong Engineering Foundations alongside Project Management Skills, good knowledge of the Automotive Testing Sector and the ability to understand and adapt existing products to meet customer requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Analyse and identify the current and future needs of Automotive Customers and propose innovative solutions
  • Manage and lead all aspects of the product life cycle, from conception through to release, working to deadlines and adapting plans as necessary
  • Negotiate and agree actions and time scales for multiple, concurrent engineering projects with other project team members
  • Communicate with the development and test teams and report back to management on product/project status
  • Create and maintain detailed and accurate specifications that allow efficient development and testing of new products and features
  • Complete user acceptance testing and provide feedback to the development teams
  • Provide expert help and guidance to the first line customer support team and other areas of the business as needed
  • Provide pre-sales advice to customers and distributors, helping with quotations and on-site customer demonstrations and training
  • Assist with the marketing team with activities such as attending Expos, content creation, application notes, magazine articles etc.

An Engineering-Based Degree or HNC Level Qualification, ideally in Automotive Engineering, is required. At least 2 years' experience in the Automotive Sector, preferably within Vehicle Testing, is also necessary. Experience in managing concurrent projects, reading and understanding technical documentation, and solving complex engineering problems is essential.
