About the Role:

We are seeking a proactive and motivated individual to join our Electrical Design Team at Royal IHC in Newcastle city centre. As an Electrical Design Engineer, you will work on a variety of exciting and bespoke engineering projects for our Offshore Energy product market group.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop electrical systems for offshore energy projects.
  • Write specifications for electrical components and systems.
  • Specify and procure electrical parts and materials.
  • Estimate and manage project costs.
  • Provide technical support to customers and internal teams.
  • Conduct inspections and tests, and write FAT reports.
  • Contribute to the development of electrical department standards and efficiency initiatives.
  • Work on electrical design projects with minimal supervision.
  • Deliver complex engineering solutions to agreed time scales and budgets.
  • Estimate, forecast, plan, and execute projects to agreed plans.
  • Provide technical support and guidance for commissioning and installation activities.
  • Engage actively with teams across the business.
  • Be willing to challenge yourself and further your knowledge and experience, as well as that of the business.

Requirements:

  • Degree or Diploma in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Recent experience in a similar role in a bespoke engineering environment.
  • Experience in designing power distribution systems, machine control and instrumentation systems, control panels, motor starters, and VSDs.
  • Proficiency in Electrical CAD packages.
  • Experience working to ISO9001 or equivalent in a project-based organization.
  • Eplan Electric P8 experience.
  • Previous experience in the Marine/Offshore environment.
  • Working knowledge of DNV GL and Lloyds rules.
  • Experience with Subsea Vehicles, including design of High Voltage systems.
  • Knowledge and experience of relevant functional safety standards (IEC61508, IEC61511, IEC13849).
  • Commissioning and Test experience (advantageous).
  • Good communication skills.
  • Active and participating member of teams, department, and project teams.
  • High level of competence with IT systems and tools.

Additional Requirements:

  • This role may require national and international travel.
  • Must have the Right to Work in the UK.
