**Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Optics Process Development Engineer to join our team at MPI Limited. As a key member of our multi-disciplinary team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing optical process development solutions for our clients.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Process Development: Develop and implement new optical process development solutions for our clients, including testing and development of high-precision special-purpose machinery and test equipment.
  • Machine Installation and Commissioning: Install and commission ultra-precision machine tools, including setup and error correction.
  • Customer Training and Support: Provide training and technical support to customers on our range of grinding machines.
  • Project Management: Manage new machine build and R&D projects, ensuring timely delivery and quality standards.
  • Team Collaboration: Collaborate with project teams on a technical level, ensuring effective communication and problem-solving.
  • Quality and Safety: Work within our ISO quality system, adhering to the highest standards of health and safety.

Requirements:

  • Qualifications: Relevant engineering qualification in a mechanical or optical discipline, or proven experience within the machine tool industry.
  • Skills: Self-driven individual with a 'can-do' attitude, effective communicator, ability to work alone or as part of a team, problem-solving and fault-finding skills, proficiency in basic software packages.
  • Specialist Skills: Ability to read, understand, and interpret optical, mechanical component, and electrical drawings, understanding of optical metrology systems, ultra-precision machine tools, and on-board machine metrology systems.

Desirable Knowledge:

  • Familiarity with precision optical manufacturing and optical lens systems, optical metrology instruments, optical grinding wheel technologies, R&D set-ups and trials for precision optical grinding.
