Job Title: Teaching Assistant

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join our team at a special day school catering to students with Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), autism spectrum disorders, ADHD, and associated challenges.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will provide support to students with complex needs, assisting with their educational and personal goals across various learning contexts. This role requires a strong understanding of Special Education issues and the ability to embody the school's values in all aspects of the role.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support students with their educational and personal goals, including classroom and community-based activities.
  • Assist with special needs, including profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD), complex medical conditions, and autism.
  • Foster an inclusive environment that promotes equality, diversity, and respect for all students.
  • Empower students to take ownership of their learning and development.
  • Develop a deeper understanding of Special Education issues and embody the school's values.
  • Provide high-quality support in all duties, including physical intervention and personal care.
Requirements:
  • Committed to development and willing to work towards obtaining formal qualifications.
  • Compassionate and passionate towards children and young people with additional needs.
  • Ambitious and determined to overcome barriers to learning.
  • Outdoor enthusiasts and lovers of community learning.
  • Visionary and capable of seeing potential rather than disability.
  • Proactive and solution-focused in their approach.
  • Effective communicators with excellent communication skills.
  • Educated to at least level 2 (or equivalent) in Maths and English.
