As a Cryo-EM Facilities Manager, you will work closely with our team of structural biologists to design and implement efficient workflows, ensuring that our cryo-EM facility remains at the forefront of the field. You will also be responsible for staying up-to-date with the latest developments in cryo-EM technology and ensuring that our team is equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to leverage this technology effectively.
Key Responsibilities- Operate and maintain three state-of-the-art cryo-EM microscopes, ensuring optimal performance and troubleshooting any issues that may arise.
- Work closely with our team of structural biologists to design and implement efficient workflows, ensuring that our cryo-EM facility remains at the forefront of the field.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in cryo-EM technology and ensure that our team is equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to leverage this technology effectively.
- Establish strong relationships with manufacturers to ensure the best support and updates for our equipment.
- Ensure awareness of developments in cryo-EM to maintain the department at the forefront of the field.
- PhD in a biological, biochemical, or physical sciences discipline, or equivalent experience.
- Extensive experience with operation of screening and high-resolution data-collection microscopes.
- Knowledge of all stages of single particle cryo-EM process from protein purification to grid optimisation, data-processing, 3-D reconstruction and structure interpretation.
- Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and team working skills.
- Excellent organisational skills.
