We are seeking an experienced Senior Orthopaedic Nurse to join our esteemed day case surgical ward at St Joseph, a 19-bedded unit specialising in providing care to patients undergoing various surgical specialties.

The successful candidate will possess strong clinical skills and experience working within a fast-paced, multidisciplinary team environment. They will be up-to-date with current practices and have a proven track record of delivering high-quality patient care.

About the Role:
  • Maintain confidentiality surrounding patient admission and treatment at all times.
  • Ensure accurate and timely documentation using hospital-approved tools, aligned with NMC and hospital guidelines.
  • Adhere to ward and hospital policies, professional standards, and ensure team members do likewise.
  • Develop expertise within orthopaedics and maintain knowledge through ongoing training and development.
  • Prioritise evidence-based nursing care, ensuring each patient receives comprehensive assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Create a welcoming, safe environment for patients and their families.
  • Communicate complex information effectively, overcoming barriers to understanding, and provide support during distressing events.
  • Initiate discharge planning upon admission, collaborating with the multidisciplinary team as needed.
  • Participate in training and development activities to enhance clinical skills and knowledge.
  • Deputise for the Ward Manager and Deputy Ward Manager in their absence.
  • Supervise and support junior nursing staff and healthcare assistants, promoting a culture of excellence.
Your Qualifications:
  • Current NMC registration in adult or general nursing.
  • A minimum of 2 years post-registration experience in an orthopaedic specialty.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, including shift management and team leading.
  • Ongoing commitment to professional development and training.
  • Significant post-registration skills and excellent clinical abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Professionalism, self-awareness, and motivation to drive results.
