Cable Systems Engineers

We are seeking a highly skilled Cable Systems Engineer to join our Transmission & Distribution practice. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for assisting in the development and delivery of cable systems activities. Your primary objective will be to support the team in developing and delivering cable systems solutions.
Your main cable systems design activities will include:
- HVDC/HVAC cable calculations: You will develop cable burial route risk assessments, landfall, and cable protection systems for offshore, subsea applications.
- Gathering and correlating engineering data: You will use established and well-defined procedures to generate detailed cable reports.
- Developing detailed offshore routine engineering assignments: You will design, route, install, commission, and de-commission HVAC/HVDC, IAC, and export cable systems for static and dynamic systems.
You will work on projects such as HVAC Interconnectors and HVAC and HVDC Offshore Windfarm projects. Your role will involve performing work within agreed budgets and schedules with minimal supervision. You will also coordinate across project disciplines, external subcontractors, and remote offices to identify and mitigate technical risks, ensuring all statutory and regulatory requirements are met.
The ideal candidate will hold an electrical/electronic/power engineering qualification, such as an HNC, HND, BSc/BEng, or MSc/MEng. They will also be professionally qualified in Electrical Engineering (CEng Chartered Engineer or working towards achieving this). Strong skills in implementing software tools to provide desktop studies and generate reports using Cymcap, Cableizer, COMSOL software are essential. Additionally, they should have an understanding of HVAC and HVDC transmission principles and requirements management.
