We are seeking a Behaviour Support Mentor to join our team at a dynamic secondary school in Durham. As a Behaviour Support Mentor, you will play a vital role in supporting students with social emotional behaviour difficulties, helping them overcome barriers to learning and achieve their potential.
Main Responsibilities
- Develop and implement strategies to manage and support pupils with challenging behaviour.
- Establish and maintain a 1:1 mentoring relationship with identified students, drawing up agreed action plans to outline the aims of the mentoring.
- Collaborate with teachers, Heads of House, and support staff to promote the effective use of behaviour management strategies.
- Work with parents to support the work of the school in improving individual children's behaviour and ensure effective lines of communication between school and home.
- Work directly with individuals or groups to raise self-esteem and confidence of pupils, improving their personal and social skills.
- Monitor progress in improving behaviour and maintain improvements once made.
