Job Title: Deputy Commercial Finance Manager

Armstrong Knight is partnering with a leading property management company to find a skilled Deputy Commercial Finance Manager. This role will be part of the company's internal property management division, reporting to the Head of Finance.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage a team of 8 direct reports and 3 indirect reports, overseeing daily operations of the accounts and credit control teams.
  • Mentor and support the professional development of the team.
  • Ensure regular reconciliations and strong financial controls are in place.
  • Prepare monthly management accounts and year-end packs for auditors.
  • Prepare TBs and draft Year End Service Charge Accounts on complex sites.
  • Supervise and sign off TBs, Service Charge Year End Accounts, and Year End Reports prepared by the accounts team.
  • Monitor Purchase Ledger unauthorized bills and report weekly to avoid backlogs.
  • Prepare monthly analysis of Debtors by site and cost type, interpreting the analysis for non-financial stakeholders.
  • Prepare ad-hoc reports as required by leaseholders or internal stakeholders.
  • Oversee and support the team in preparing VAT Returns and Trust Tax Returns.
  • Encourage close working links between property management, accounts, and credit control/legal teams.
  • Work with the Head of Property to deliver budgets, year-ends, and mid-year reviews on time.
  • Have a good knowledge of VAT accounting for service charges and rent on residential and commercial sites.
  • Be involved in establishing new accounting processes as needed.
  • Identify training needs and source external training sessions.
  • Assist in maintaining and developing software systems and technology.
  • Contribute to departmental policies, driving change and improvements.
Requirements:
  • Experience in service charge accounting.
  • ACCA or equivalent qualification.
  • Understanding of lease structure and ability to read and interpret leases and legal documents.
  • Ability to prepare detailed analysis and keep sight of the big picture.
  • Advanced Excel skills.
  • Understanding of data security, including GDPR.
