Job Overview

The Royal Marsden Clinical Research Facility is seeking a diligent and hardworking individual to support the West Wing Clinical Research Centre clinical team. The post holder will provide administration support by facilitating the smooth and efficient set up of new clinical trials.

Main Duties
  • Organize and maintain the laboratory, ensuring clinical trial sample processing, storage, and shipment comply with protocols, Good Clinical Practice (GCP), and Good Laboratory Practice (GLP).
  • Liaise with the laboratory Manager to develop procedures for maintaining the integrity of clinical trial samples and providing a complete audit trail.
  • Process a large number of blood samples, prepare samples for shipment, and act as the main point of contact for delivery of supplies, sample queries, and shipment.
Key Responsibilities
  • Liaise with the WWCRC LM to develop a standardized procedure for sample processing for each trial-specific protocol.
  • Ensure all samples are logged into the electronic system.
  • Develop and maintain sample records and freezer logs to maintain a database of all tissues stored within the unit.
  • Maintain accurate records of freezer, fridge, and cupboard temperatures in accordance with GCP.
Person Specification

Education/Knowledge

  • University Degree in a scientific discipline.

Experience

  • Experience of working in a similar lab-based environment.

Skills

  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to work on own initiative.
  • Proven ability to organize own work in busy work environments and time-critical situations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in verbal and written formats.
  • Proficient in the use of IT software.
