We are seeking a dedicated individual to join our team in the UK as an Assistant Functional Safety Engineer on a contract or permanent basis.

Job Description:

The primary focus of this role is on Powertrain and Chassis systems, but our Functional Safety team also works on Body, ADAS, HMI/UX, and Agile software development. Experience or a desire to learn in these areas is a plus.

  • Adhere to our Functional Safety policy.
  • Assist in creating safety work-products like DIA, Safety Plan, Item Definition, HARA, FSR, etc.
  • Manage ISO 26262 V-cycle activities for Active and Passive safety systems.
  • Conduct safety analyses (FMEA, FTA, DFA) for in-house software safety systems.
  • Support the implementation and validation of in-house safety software monitors.
  • Ensure safety functions meet safety concepts and requirements.
  • Plan and execute system and vehicle-level safety tests.
  • Maintain safety requirements and test specifications in Doors/Jama for traceability and consistency.
  • Define and negotiate development interface agreements with suppliers and follow up on functional safety topics.
  • Develop safety requirements and associated architecture across various systems.
  • Review work products to comply with ISO 26262.
  • Collaborate with systems, hardware, software, and validation teams.
Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • Experience with ISO 26262 in automotive systems, including safety analysis.
  • Knowledge of vehicle domains such as powertrain, chassis, and body controls.
  • Understanding of safety-related hardware-software interface requirements.
  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and suppliers.
  • Knowledge of hardware and its interfaces to systems and software.
  • Understanding of automotive electrical architectures and communication protocols.
  • Ability to conduct confirmation reviews in compliance with ISO 26262.
  • Proficiency in producing formal documentation to a high standard.
  • MATLAB/Simulink development skills are a plus.

Salary:

The estimated salary for this role is around £55,000-£65,000 per annum, depending on experience.
